Also called an elevator pitch, the idea is to have a short presentation or speech to help people gain interest in your business. You want it to be short enough that you can give the whole thing on a ride in an elevator.

Squeezing your whole business idea into one minute can seem challenging, though.

Here are some tips for how to write a business pitch that’s short and painless and is guaranteed to hook people.
Business Pitch: Know Your Why

If you’re going to pitch a business idea, you need to demonstrate that you’re invested in it. Do you really care or are you just a bored salesman trying to make ends meet? People will be hooked when they can see how earnest you are and how much you believe in your product.

When you’re pitching an MLM, it’s even more important to nail your “why.” The reasoning behind joining the company may be financial, but what drew you to the product? Think about your mentors and how their stories hooked you.

Maybe it’s a woman who worked four different jobs in college to make ends meet and then discovered this MLM. Then it more than made up for the income from all four, and she was able to move to a six-figure income in just a year! Does her story astound you?

Even if your story isn’t as dramatic as that, perhaps you can think of some life circumstances that contributed to your being drawn to the company. Whether you’re selling nutrition products or makeup or natural cleaning products, there’s something special about it that made you believe in it. That’s the impetus of your business pitch and the most important thing to share with those you meet.

The more impassioned you are about your product, the easier it will be to give your speech. Even if you hate giving speeches, sharing your passion with people on the elevator won’t be hard if you first convince yourself. Pour that fervor into your business pitch, and you’ll nail it.
